Quest crew

June 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment

You’ve probably noticed by now, I’m a sucker for reality dance shows, so naturally (Randy Jackson presents) America’s best dance crew couldn’t go by unnoticed either :) What drew most attention to me in that show were Season 3 winners. The so called Quest crew features some of the very familiar SYTYCD faces (Ryan, Dominic and Hok), along with other fabulous B-boys. The shows that this crew brings are simply phenomenal, creative, athletic and tight! I’m still moving through the season (not really up to date, I know) but I do know all those advantages led them to win the Season. Congratulations Quest crew. And all I can say for now is, take a deep breath and check this clip of all their performances on that show. Simply amaaaaazing! The show of course has theme editions and stuff like that, so for understanding what the trick in each show is, one has to know the instructions the crew’s were given.. but even without that, it can be very well seen, those are no beginners in the world of performing. :)

Michael Jackson and his life

June 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Tonight a news on Michael Jackson’s death came out. Despite all knowing facts, stories and affairs it is only fair to say he really was the king of pop and he did an important break-through and progress in the world of music and dancing.

I remember my youth, when I was still taking some dance lessons and MTV was getting so popular. It was a cool and trendy thing to do – watch MTV and know all the songs and video spots by heart. Well, Michael Jackson was always among them, having some really really cool No. 1 hits and spots. So separating personal and private life experience I am giving him all the credit to bringing the dance and music world on a higher level and making the broad public acknowledge it more than ever. It can easily be said there were a few people in the histoy who made that evident progress happen. Like Fred and Ginger made one step and will always be quoted among the choreogrphers, will Michael Jacskon be. He was an icon for a while and I imagine that is quite a pressure for one human being. That is only a small justification for messing some thing up in the private sector. It shouldn’t be an excuse of course, but it shouldn’t take away from his work either.

I think he will always be remembered upon a few very individual traits: the moonwalk, grabbing of his ‘essentials’, white socks, interestings ‘yawns’ produced while singing and some really really inteligent, markable and story-telling wakeup calls in his songs.

This was the song which made the biggest influence on me, when I first heard it:

Thank you MJ for what you have given us and may your soul rest in peace …..

Buba Production 2009

June 19, 2009 · Leave a Comment

One year passes really quickly. Although in that period a lot of things usually happen, lots of new stuff we learn, many new people we meet and experience some really good and some really bad moments. Being dancoholics or simply just loving to learn new dances, we usually grow in that field as well. It may be just a hobby, but it’s a fun one. Nobody is unhappy while dancing, dance is like a medicine when we’re moody, like a radio when we’re happy and always in the reach of the hand. :) So I am most happy to see so many people participate in the end-of-year production of Buba, sports and recreation centre from Ljubljana. We saw 15 different shows, everything from salsa, to swing, ballroom dances, oriental and some more professional shows.
It was a great pleasure to perform in that cast and I loooved to perform my favorite routine “Shadows” with Dulce Locura.
Here’s a movie of some of the performances:

What an amaaazing start of the SYTYCD Season 5 shows!!

June 12, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Wow, wow, wow… I’m just so hype rite now… Oh my god is what I can say for the first Top 20 show of So you think you can dance Season 5. The show started with Napoleon&Tabatha’s choreography – which was that Bleeding love format of a show. Wow wow wow! Very beautiful, fluid, tight,… simply gorgeous. Another shocker was Bollywood. I say yeah for that. Loooveeeeed the routine! The contemporary routine… And just when I thought the show cannot get better than that, I was shocked again. When Adam Shankman didn’t know what to say but hold his head, when Mary Murphy lost her voice and Nigel took the headphones out… What an amazing samba routine!! Two ballroom dancers could hardly do it so good. But here, we had a girl who never did ballroom before. It’s really hard to believe that. How can you never do a ballroom technique and dance like that?!! I think I will see this show a couple of hundred times again till next Thursday :) I’m so happy the show started and I’m sorry for all the excitement, but it was soooo peepin’ good!!
Here’s the samba routine:

I think this is the beginning of the beautiful new season! :)    :)

I get chilles at the end of the routine… sooooo good!

Everything in the name of fame

June 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Naturally, Britain’s got talent is not the only talent show in the world. The licence was sold into different countries, among them is also Sweden. And since Youtube is now probably the biggest “global radio station” (in terms that he knows everything), we can easily keep track of that as well… and get to see some ridiculous stuff they produce. :) I don’t know much about swedish talent show, I only saw this one clip, which was pretty funny and… well… is a perfect example of how far people go for 5 minutes of fame (not sure if it was even 5 of them).
So, girls, enjoy this clip and don’t think you’re gonna see everything. The props stay till the very end! :)

So you think you can dance Season 5

June 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Long waited, long expected and worth waiting :) The 5th season of So you think you can dance started a couple of weeks ago. The auditions are over and the top 20 were selected. It looks very promising, with variety of dance backgrounds (as usual), some very well trained dancers and some great personalities (probably). I think it’s gonna be even harder for this year’s contestants, cause each year seems to be so, but with that the shows are getting better and better as well. I really can’t wait to see the first great acts, great choreographies, costumes and a true TV spectacle.
For the time being here is one of the funniest moments from the auditions round. You see all sorts of people auditioning and ofcourse TV producers catch on the funniest, most rediculos contestants – which I can’t blame them for, cause that is what makes the show and everybody is aware of being taped while auditioning. Well, if you saw any of the previous seasons you couldn’t have missed a guy, who wishes his stage name to be “Sex” – not really sure in what way… Anyway, he was back the fifth time and this time the judges made a little joke. They put him and another, similarly wierd, applicant into a battle. Yeah… a sort of a dance battle, but only if this were four year-olds dancing. Here’s the clip and don’t miss this weeks show.. I’m already looking for it.. seeing new breathtaking contemporary, hiphop, broadway, jazz, ballroom etc. etc. acts, with all the best choreographers ofcourse. Phew.. :)  :) You can even see the shows online.

Brtain’s got talent 2009 winners

June 5, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Running a bit late with this news… but the acts are endless anyway, so it doesn’t really matter when you see them. :) In short I was thrilled to see a dance crew win one of the most popular reality shows. I think it’s so much easier for a singer to win a talent contest, then a dancer, but luckily that has changed. Diversity is a dance crew wich outvoted a runner-up, this years revelaton and phenomenon, Susan Boyle. She is really really good as well, but I can’t help to approve and be happy for a dance crew’s win. There was another group in the semi-finals, also great, called Flawless. For me they both were greaat, I loved the witty sense of humor, great music, choreographies and especially all formations and transitions. Wow!! So much moving around and such thorough syncronisation.
Here are some of the winning moves: :)
